(Mexico City, Mexico) – Fikse USA, Inc. today unveiled the company's newest wheel for the 2006 Grand American Rolex Daytona Prototypes series at La Gran Final de la Serie Rolex Sports Car race in Mexico City. The new 2006 Contour-DP modular wheels are rotary-forged and flowformed exclusively for motorsport applications. The Contour-DP wheels incorporate major technology and performance advances and are purpose-engineered for the 2006 Grand American Rolex Daytona Prototypes race series.
Company founder Jim Fikse said, "We built upon years of Daytona Prototype wheel experience, extensive finite-element analysis and lab testing combined with detailed customer feedback to optimize the new 2006 Contour-DP wheels. The results are major advances in several areas: increased stiffness, reduced weight and lower moment of inertia. In both ontrack and lab testing the new Contour-DP wheels have demonstrated superior performance."
The most immediately apparent visual difference is the new contour-milled "I-beam" spoke shape. In addition, Fikse has developed variable section flowformed rims for the 2006 Contour-DP. "Fikse pioneered forged aluminum modular race wheel technology beginning in 1992," said Fikse. "In fact, foreign wheel manufacturers have now moved in the same direction, shifting away from magnesium to forged aluminum's superior performance and properties," said Fikse.

We know that we must always earn that business – never take it for granted – and advancing the state of the art is an essential part of that. With the new Contour-DP wheel, we strive to offer excellent service, superior operating economy over time and continual improvement on the track to every Fikse USA customer."
